My GE Model # GSD650X just stopped working. No start at all. I checked the circuit breaker and it's fine. I did unclog the soap dispenser (jammed)before trying to start. Don't know if this has anything to do with not running. DW is about 12 years old. Any comments on trying to salvage should it require service is appreciated.

** GE [Dishwasher] Model # GSD650X **

That model number is incomplete, did you get it right off the appliance's model and serial number identification tag?

** No start at all. I checked the circuit breaker and it's fine. **

Did anyone confirm power is getting to the dishwasher... whether the breaker is "fine" (I assume you just mean not tripped) or not??

If power really IS getting to the dishwasher, there might be a problem with the door latch or latch switch if it won't do anything at all.

Sorry Dan. The model is GSD650X-68BA. Serial # MM822547B. The circuit breaker did not trip so I'm assuming the breaker still good. I don't know how to check for power going into the dishwasher.

That looks better.

Than you may be setting yourself up for a wild goose chase. In order to perform service you need to deal with only facts.

** I don't know how to check for power going into the dishwasher. **

It can be done with a volt meter or even a test light might work but if you don't even know how to do that, you might want to consider calling in a technician to do the testing for you. Working on live wiring circuits can be dangerous!

If by chance your dishwasher just plugs into a regular wall outlet, plugging in a lamp, etc., known to be working, should at least tell if power is getting to that outlet.
