My wife and I bought our first home in November. The original 1947 house is U shaped on a raised foundation. A family room was added in the late 50's in the middle of the U. This room is on slab. I have found termites around the perimiter of the room and I am told difficult to treat. The slab is poured right up to the footings on 3 sides. There is no structural damage from termites. Is this proper construction? Should I have the room redone so it has crawl space? Anyone know how much (approx) this would cost? The room is 19' X 18'. I like to do things right.

Thank You

If the slab addition is stable there is no reason at all to change it.

And termites are treatable by treating the entire house with bait systems.

Call a professional exterminator.
