I'm in the market for a 12" compound miter saw. And was just wondering what people think of either Ridgid and Delta. We use a DeWalt on the job that has held up ok for quite a few years but I was just looking for other peoples recommendations. Thanks.

I have a Delta 12" compound miter saw I use it about 3 times a month I like it.

Is it for home use or another one for the jobsite?

Ive never owned a miter saw before till 3 years ago so my opinion doesn't mean much cuz it doesn't get abused. So the Rigid would prolly be just the same for me.

I have used the same dewalt 12" saw for about ten years. I like it and I would stay with it. Also have the dewalt sliding 12" compound mitre saw and I am really happy with it too.

Delta makes some fine tools. I am getting the new twin laser from delta. Porter cable also has this same saw with their stamp on it but it costs a little more. I like what I have seen of Ridged but have never owned any. I think I will get the jigsaw form them and test it out. The laser feature seems gimiky I know but I love gimicks and had the Porter cable LaserLok years ago and really miss the feature on my Dewalt 12". Just double check the drives. A direct drive is great and a belt has it's advantages but the belt drive system is the reason I got rid of the porter cable. I really abused the saw cutting full size 2" by 6" polypropelene and literally shreaded the belts. For wood work though, the motor is moved out of the way and it should be plenty strong to cut most any breed.
