My basement floor has several ridges in it. the floor is poured concrete, and was not smoothed very well. The worst of the ridges is about 3/8 of an inch high, but the others are about half that height.

Since I need a level floor for most flooring types what are my alternatives? I suppose that since they are not that long I could chisel them out. Would I be better off to lay some sort of wooden subfloor? or maybe it would be better to have a professional lay a new skim coat of concrete to smooth out the floor properly? What is the best approach?
