I live in a 30-year-old house, that has a full basement. The previous owner had an exterior entry door cut into foundation to provide access to his shop.

To keep water from entering the basement from the stairwell (which has a drain in it), a masonry sill was constructed that rises about 2-1/2 to 3 inches above the concrete floor.

Over time, it has deteriorated and now is about to fall apart. I need to replace the door, anyway, with a more energy efficient one.

I need to replace the sill. How to I do it? Or do I need to hire a masonry contractor to do the job?
