.We Refurbish Docks for a living and The concept of sanding a Dock is Just a waste of time. We have used industrial sanders and was a waste of time and money.First of all the boards are uneven and unless you want to hand sand then do not waste your time. Pressure wash your dock and either put down new wood or Deck scape. It is expensive but well worth the investment. I suggest putting sand in your Deckscapes before applying.Get somebody who knows how to apply only because if it is rushed it looks like crap but if properly applied You will enjoy for many years

I used thompsons for years until they changed the formula about 10 yrs ago. . Not as good and gets too hot . .use decks ape clear now , every 3 yrs , power wash ( light, don't take off the wood just clean) then decks ape. . . Don't use sand, it settles unevenly, get a product called shares tooth, mixes with whatever using ( paint, stain) and blends perfectly. . . My deck about 800 sq ft built in 93 looks new
