Sorry if this is not the right forum for my questions. I don't see any kitchen-related forums here and this is the closet to it that I could find.

There's this strong rubber-glove smell coming out of the cabinet under my kitchen sink. I moved everything out of the cabinet and tried to isolate what's causing the smell. Here's what I found:

1. None of the stuff that is placed in the cabinet is causing the smell-- I smelled each and everyone of them.

2. There's no sign of leaking.

3. The garbage disposal is not the source of the smell.

4. The underside of the sink appears to be the culprit. The sink is a stainless steal one made by Amerisink. Its underside has this layer of white coating.

My questions:

1. Is it common/normal for a sink's underside to emit rubber smell?

2. Any suggestion on how to get rid of that smell?

3. Any other possible source for the smell that I overlook? Could the sealant around the sink be the real culprit.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
