I wonder if someone could confirm my understanding of natural gas pipe sizing under UPC by looking at an example with me. I'm using the table printed in the Code Check Plumbing field guide.
Assume one 30 foot line with a huge pool heater at the end (375 cu. ft./hour). For that I need 1" pipe. So far so good.
Now let's add a huge BBQ (90 cu. ft./hour) 2/3 of the way down that pipe, i.e. at the 20-foot mark. So at 20', the combined load is 375 + 90 = 465. Do I understand correctly that at 20', the same 1" pipe will supply the BBQ as well?
In fact, it looks like I could even put another appliance at the 10' mark, since there is 680 cu. ft./hour capacity at that point?
Thanks for any help on this!
