We have had a flooded basement. Workmen are coming to installed a system that will take the water away from the foundation. We have not lived here long and the floor had a carpet which we have removed. Under the carpet is some green tile that is still glued down. How long ago did they stop putting dangerous tiles in homes? Could this be a hazard?

Vinyl asbestos floor tile was manufactured into the early 1980s. The tile presents no hazard unless it is severely broken, sanded or treated in some other manner that creates dust. It can be sampled to determine asbestos content, and a local lab can make that determination using a PLM analysis for about $25. There are safe removal methods (wet), but not sure what your intentions are.
