How can I tell the amperage rating/capacity of the conductors in unmarked AC(BX)cable? They appear to be steel or aluminum and larger than sixe 14 copper but smaller than size 12 copper. Fuses are no help, as some are 15, and others are 20. House was built in 50s.

Use a wire stripper on a bare portion of the conductor while de-energized. Start w/10AWG & descend accordingly. Use obvious safety precautions.
