wooden floor grout
There was a show on about wooden flooring. It was made by using small pieces of wood and then a grout applied. I think the grout was made with a stain and something else. The pieces of wood were odd sizes, and I think they were being re-used.Can anyone give me info on where to find this episode, what episode it is, or what was used for the floor and grout?? Thanks, Chris2
I believe you are talking about the Cobble Wood floor that was seen on Bob's show.
In the "Home Again" section of this website you can view the actual video clip and get all the installation details including the sawdust grout. Scroll down to Season 1, Chicago Coach House, Episode #10.

was wondering if someone could post the info on here-I cant get the video to run and having a hard time getting it to instal-keeps jumping around to all different microsoft software to install. How large are the wood blocks and what is the filler made of-how much of each part that is in the filler/grout also. Thanks so much

ok i got the segment to run on the other computer...now the question is where the hell do you get an old barn wood from???
My husband mentioned that we should probley use old hard wood (like they did) because the new fresh wood might not be as strong to this with and may have side effects-anyone know if we can use new wood vs old wood?? please let us know-we are at the moment replacing the ruined wood paneling with drywall and will very soon be replacing the floors right after and this is one of the few floor types & style that my husband and i both agreed on.

You should use old wood if at all possible. One of the big problems with new wood is the moisture content. Old wood has dried completely to point of matching the moisture content in the air around it. New wood has more moisture retained in it and as it dries it will shrink. This can result in cracks between the wood and the grout.
