We just painted our basement floor with a waterborne epoxy interior floor paint. The main reason for doing this was because we have 5 cats and for some reason they like to pee on the basement floor sometimes and we were hoping that since they use this sort of paint on kennel floors that this is going to seal whatever parts of the floor we couldn't get the smell all the way out of as to discourage the cats from peeing on the floor again and for easier cleanup of the litter box area where sometimes they miss the box and go next to it. I had a piece of linoleum on the floor where the litter boxes were and the moisture from the floor inhibited the growth of mold so I had to get rid of it. What I would like to know is, is the epoxy paint going to seal the stains and the smell? Is it going to resist cat urine instead of allowing it to soak into the concrete floor? Is it going to create enough of a moisture barrier that we can put down another piece of linoleum down to put the litter boxes on and not grow mold? Thanks!
