We ripped up our carpet today to expose the hardwood floor. The floor looks great, but there are rows of nails that look like they run along the joists. They don't look very good. Any ideas/tips on how to deal with this?
From your description, it sounds like someone found a solution to a squeaky floor. The nails would need to be counter sunk and filled to hide them, but the person who top-nailed with headed, rather than finish nails never intended to salvage the floor. It will never have a new appearance.
