i am having hardwood floor (BR-111 Indusparquat 7/16) installed in our upstairs loft, as well as on the tops of the stairs leading up to the loft.

1st question: do we need moisture barrier? we were told that since it is on the second floor, it is not necessary. the wood, so far, has been stapled down.

my second question: is it acceptable to staple directly into the surface of the wood? the staple that was used is very small, but it has still left a nick in the surface of the wood everywhere they used the staples.
