I recently tried out the Oupes Mega 1, a compact portable power station from one of the newest brands in the market. Released in the second half of 2024, the Mega 1 is equipped with 1,024Wh (watt hours) of LiFePo4 battery capacity and 13 outlets to power electronic equipment, lighting, tools, and appliances at home or off the grid. The Mega 1 weighs 27.8 pounds, and it has two molded handles built into the housing to make transport easy.

Its size, capacity, and output ratings are comparable to popular models from leading brands including the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, Bluetti Elite 100 v2, and EcoFlow Delta 2. But the Mega 1 stands out from the crowd because it packs the strongest output (2,000 watts) and surge wattage (4,500 watts) of the group. Of course, running at peak output will result in shorter runtimes, so those worried about running out of power might consider expanding capacity up to 5,120Wh by adding one or two Oupes B2 2,048Wh battery packs. The combination of higher output and expandable capacity makes the Mega 1 one of the strongest power stations in its class.
I tested this unit for 3 weeks. During that time, I used it to power AC devices like work lights and corded power tools, charge tool batteries and electronic devices, and run my refrigerator and microwave. It did a great job for me in every setting, from my isolated off-grid workshop to my kitchen. It was a convenient size to carry and set up, and there were plenty of outlets for all my devices.
When the charge was depleted, I tested its ability to recharge via an AC wall outlet and, separately, with a 100-watt solar panel. While it was wall-charging, its fan was noticeably louder than those on other power stations I’ve tested, but it charged in less than 1.5 hours, so the noise was not a huge distraction. Solar charging took about 2.5 days to increase from 15 percent to 97 percent, as the weather wasn’t cooperating.
For me, the promise of powerful and reliable performance matters more than brand name. The question is, what performance features are your priorities? Some users require lighter weight, a faster, uninterrupted power supply for sensitive electronics, or other convenience factors found elsewhere. The Oupes Mega 1 offers the highest available output to keep camps, workshops, and homes running smoothly when grid power is not available.
