I recently had a new roof put on but failed to check the attic until several days later when I discovered nails sticking thru the wood in some places. The wood was also cracked and splintered with some small shard-type pieces having fallen off. When I called the roofer, he told me it was not unusual for nails to stick thru, but he couldn't tell me why it only happened in some places and why it was not an issue with my old roof. Surely he can't be right! This is my first time replacing a roof, but this certainly does not sound right to me.
