All,

I just purchased and installed a new gas stove (went from electric to gas). I also purchased and installed some new cabinets which surround the stove and fridge. All in all things went well, but the stove fits in between the cabinets rather tight - is there a clearance on each side of the stove I need to maintain for safety? Or can the stove be right up to the cabinets?

Any insight would be great!

Any clearance requirements are specified on the installation instructions that came with the stove. In most cases, zero clearance is fine, as long as the doors and cabinets operate without interference. In most cases, a tight fit is a good thing, and prevents dirt and materials from being swept back to inaccssible spaces, and looks better too.

My stove instructions said NOT to attach to adjoining cabinets--that a minimal gap is required. (I ended up with about 1/8" on each side.) Definitely check your installation instructions that came with it--it could be different.
