I had recently purchased a cabin in the california mountains. One of the exterior walls is burried about 2.5 feet under the ground level. the walls are constructed of standard 2x4 studs, and wood siding. We have a serious problem with sub-terrainian termites.

I am digging out the wall, but I can't remove the dirt permanently. What can I do to eliminate the termite risk since my siding is wood?

Best I can say is to let it dry, Apply a product like termin-X (if you can get it in CA), or Wolman end cut solution. Then apply asphalt based waterproofing, a layer of roofing felt, more asphalt waterproofing. Backfil with gravel.

Anyone have any other ideas?
