I have a very large family room and would like to install several floor outlets. As I tend to do a lot of work on my laptop while I watch tv, I need to install outlets for 110 and home network connection (RJ45 Cat 5 connectors). I would guess is that elec. code does not allow mixing 110 and low voltage ethernet cabling in the same box.

Does anyone know of a source for floor outlet boxes and covers? Any thoughts on how I might run both network and 110 cable into one single (preferred) or double gang box?

Thanks!

You can install low voltage and line voltage together you will need a mechanical divider.

But I don't recommend your Cat#5 data cable being so close to the line voltage ... might have an adverse affect on your data transmission rate
