1910 farmhouse wiring
My husband and I are looking at an old farmhouse built in 1910. To the best of my knowledge, there have been no significant updates to the electrical system in the home. Based off of the age of the home, what could we be looking at for electrical and or what questions should we ask so we can be well informed buyers? We have not made an offer on the home yet. We really want to have a good idea what we are looking at before we take it to that step. Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!
Hi again MrsD,
For you, and anyone else, I think my reply at The Plumbing Forum applies here too.

PS: It goes BEYOND just electrical and plumbing ...
Jay...forgive my ignorance...could you please elaborate on what you mean by "BEYOND" electrical and plumbing? Thanks so much!
Hi MrsD,
No ignorance on your part. Just a poor 'elaboration' on my part. (I do so much typing on the Forum that I feel folks should be able to read my mind ...
) Anyways, ...
What I mean is that you need to look at the TOTAL house; not just the plumbing or electrical. That's what I meant by BEYOND electrical and plumbing. In other words, if your 'concerns' are in those 2 areas now, what about things like insulation, roofing, 'cracks', and so on.
I hope this helps. My best to ya.
