I have a 300 sq foot that has 2 year old ceramic tile. Can I install Bruce Hardwood Flooring over the top of the tile? We just pulled up out carpet in the great room and will begin the hardwood installation in there this weekend. However this butts up against our kitchen which has the white tile, we would eventually like to install the hardwood right over the top of the tile using glue. Is this possible or will we have to remove the tile(yuck!)?

Thanks

as long as it is an engineered floor, you will be able to install over tile, but chances are, the carpet and the tile are on 2 different underlayments, you could be talking about a considerable height difference. In that case, tear out the tile.

Just a few issues I can see. The glue sticking to the tile. Ceramic tile is sealed, and that will be a problem. I would suggest you call Armstrongs tech line for their Bruce line and see what they say. No reason to void their warrany but cutting a few corners.

Another option. Bruce makes a beautiful real wood 3/4" floating floor. That CAN be layed over just about anything.

Good luck

Graham, the "floating floor" is the laminate right? From what I hear you just lay down your underlayment and then snap together your floor on top of that?

Haven't seen that one yet. I thought the only one that offered a solid floater was Junckers?
