When splurging on new appliances, I tend to take a practical approach and look for features that are really useful.
My old fridge was close to 20 years old, and I had a love/hate relationship with the ice maker. When it worked, it worked great, but most days it was frozen or just didn’t work at all. My husband and I are iced-coffee lovers and parents of two active teenagers, and fighting with an ice maker was a never-ending battle. We take our ice very seriously in our house, but since the refrigerator still cooled properly and the freezer still froze, all was well in my book.
I looked at some of the best refrigerators on the market, and since Frigidaire has been a well-known name in the kitchen appliance industry for over 100 years (the company was founded in 1918), I decided this would be the brand I’d go with. Just ahead is my review of the Frigidaire Gallery 4-Door French Door Refrigerator.

What is the Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator?
The Frigidaire Gallery, model GRMS2773AF, is a French door refrigerator with four doors. The unit features a large 26.3 cubic feet of storage and three sections, including a Custom-Flex Temp Drawer. The Custom-Flex Temp Drawer allows for added storage and customization, allowing the user to choose between four specific temperature zones based on what’s being stored in the drawer.
This model also has an ice maker and dispenser built into the left French door, providing easy access to cubed ice, crushed ice, and filtered water. There are also various alerts that help you keep your food cool. For example, if a drawer or door is open for too long, the unit will start to beep to alert you. This is a really handy feature for homes with young children who may accidentally leave a door or drawer open.
The CrispSeal fresh crisping system uses various technologies to block out air and optimize humidity to remove excess moisture in the crisping drawers. There is also a built-in filter that works to reduce ethylene gas and odors, which helps preserve food freshness and color. The two built-in drawers can be used with CrispSeal or without.
Is the Frigidaire Gallery easy to install?
I was installing this unit into a built-in cabinet space, so measurements were extremely important for me. The Frigidaire Gallery comes as a standard-depth unit. I wasn’t too worried about the depth because I didn’t mind if it stuck out a few inches as my old unit did.
The measurements are very specific, which allowed me to measure my space multiple times to ensure a proper fit. I was a bit worried about the width, but luckily, the refrigerator fit like a glove, allowing just enough space for ventilation.
To make sure the refrigerator fits inside your home, I would stress the importance of measuring all your entryways, too. Upon delivery, the unit would not fit through my front door or side door, so the delivery person had to remove the French doors to make it through. This wasn’t a big deal, and I was told this is a very common practice for refrigerator delivery. However, it did take an extra half hour or so, so be sure to plan accordingly if you suspect you’ll need to do the same.
Once the refrigerator was in the house, installation was a breeze. The installer simply had to connect my water line to the ice maker and plug in the unit. After that, I installed the water filter, which is as easy as sliding it into place.
Is the Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator easy to use?
The Gallery refrigerator is a perfect mix of features, in my opinion. It’s not overwhelming with bells and whistles you truly don’t need, but it’s definitely a few steps up from a basic model. The unit is extremely easy to use and was also easy to customize to my preferences.
There are multiple door organizers that are movable and customizable depending on what you prefer to store in the door. I love this feature, as it really allowed me to organize condiments and drinks efficiently.
The top shelf is a bit hard to customize because if you lower it, the middle shelf has very little space and cannot be lowered any further, so taller drinks and condiments had to go in the door organizers.
The control panel on the ice maker and water dispenser allowed me to set the temperature for the freezer and refrigerator. For the Custom-Flex Temp Drawer, the temperature is set based on what you are using it for. My family loves this drawer for easy-grab snacks and deli meats.
Let’s talk about the crisping drawers, because this feature blew me away. I tested this for weeks to make sure what I was observing was really true. In my old unit, a head of lettuce that was properly sealed would last maybe 5 days, if I was lucky. With the crisping drawer, a head of lettuce lasts an average of 10 days. Yes, you read that right: I was able to use 10-day-old lettuce, which was as fresh as if I’d picked it up 3 days ago. This is without a doubt my favorite feature of this unit.
The freezer is very large, although I do wish there were different compartments in the freezer to keep it organized. However, there is a slide-out drawer that helps with storage and organization. I have to remember to move things around and organize the freezer every so often, or I run the risk of burying packages of meat.
The ice maker works well and dispenses cubed or crushed ice along with filtered water. The filtered water tastes great, and I actually prefer it over the drinking water from my filtered water softener. I like that I have the ability to pull out the ice bucket from inside the refrigerator for the times I need more ice, like for a large water bottle.
The biggest drawback is the quantity of ice; I do wish it produced more ice at a faster rate. As a family of four with two very active teenagers and a couple of iced-coffee drinkers, I have to keep ice trays in the freezer, too. One bucket of ice is barely enough for a day at the ballpark, but it takes an average of 2 to 3 days for it to be completely full again, and that’s without using it at all.
Is the Frigidaire Gallery worth the money?
The Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator retails for $3,599; however, it’s typically on sale in the range of $2,100 to $2,500. With a standard, basic refrigerator ranging between $500 and $1,500, this model sits in the higher range.
However, with the higher price comes more features, such as the Custom-Flex Temp Drawer, two crisping drawers, and a large capacity.
My overall experience with this model has been a positive one, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new refrigerator. I think the features, the performance of the unit, and the overall aesthetics make it worth its price tag, especially if you can purchase it on sale.
