Hello everyone, first time homebuyer, so bare with me.

I am interested in putting a shower and a sink into my basement. There is currently a toilet down there, of which I want to close that part of the basement off, put in a shower and sink, and have a second full bath.

Here are my options (at least what I come up with).

1. Put the shower on a step, put a holding tank behind the shower to drain into, and pump the water from the holding tank to an untapped part of the sewer line running on the ceiling of the basement. This way, I don't have to cut the concrete and tap in from the floor.

2. Cut the concrete and tap in from the floor.

Either way, the new sink can be run into the same drain as the shower.

If you have done this, please send me any advice you have. I am new to this, so any help is appreciated!!

I would suggest if your doing it, do it correctly and go with option 2......Both for your own convenience and for re-sell. erik
