i have a porch with a half wall and a shed roof. it is framed with 4x4 redwood and has a shed roof with melt down membrane. i purchased a 60x68 slider last summer to install on the slant side not the weight bearing side. the problem is how do i put in a header with the total height on one end being 87 inches and the low end being 84 inches.

You just rip the material at the pitch you need with a saw.

But from what you say, this is not a load bearing wall and needs no header, only nailer. A header is for the purpose of holding up the load above it.

i have been trying to find someone to put in that patio door for two years. none but the last one who looked at the job said it needed a header but since i will probably end up being the one to do the framing i wanted to be sure there wasn't some other reason
