Hi there
You got me a little confused. Not sure if you have a canvas wall covering and it is peeling or have paint peeling.
Here are suggestions for both.
Canvas wall covering on a ceiling usually denotes that the plaster is very old and in poor condition. You could attempt removing the canvas. If the plaster is in bad condition, I recommend applying 3/8 or 1/4 drywall and finish
Peeling paint can be fixed by removing all the loose paint with a scraper. The rough edges can be smoothed over with spackling compound.
Hope this helps

My experience using joint compound
and latex paint pulled away the
canvas on your ceiling. My house was built in 1892. I cut oblong circles to
pat h and paint with latex. I have read in other posts that you use quick drying and calcimite to paint. Not sure yet. Tbis ceiling is in the entrance way to the house and the room is 15x25.

I too have a canvas ceiling with water damage and need to find someone out there to help restore it! Do you have any suggestions or names? I am in Massachusetts.
Thanks,JoAnn
