Installing FiberGlass-Pre-hung exterior door 38" (includes frame) x 6' 8"; w/full clear Insullated Glass-insert. I am installing in where a window is now-Opening will be 40" wide x 6'8" High; There are 2 windows now-I am removing/replacing one with the door. I know I actually will have approx another 1inch + to the solid floor after rmoving the carpet and padding. I have installed pre-hung interior doors-in existing openings-easy! I am concerned about the space needed to install this door. My outside frame/moulding (new Door) is 40" wide and 83" high; Inside casement around door is 37 1/2"w by 82"h; My concern will I have enough space to put 2x4's in to strengthen the frame or do I just extend down from the window frame (one remaining); Which is best way? The windows are sash frames and house was built in 1951-Ranch Style-Is there a better way?
