Can I sheath interior garage walls that are not part of the house walls in 1/2 " OSB in- stead of fire rated drywall?

It will make it easier to mount stuff on the walls. I live in Pennsylvania (Code issue?)

Thanks for any expert advice given!

I have a 50 y/o townhome in Dallas and have a sheathing question. When the buildings exterior siding (Hardyboard), wa redone before I purchased this home, it was installed over the existing black sheathing. Any damaged or missing sheathing was not repaired/replaced, and just covered with siding.

I have dealt with issues where possible, and I am now in the attic. Several areas are bad enough that daylight is shing through. I would like to panel these areas to keep pests and rodents out of the attic, and then insulation over that. I would prefer to spray insulation, but my budget probably prevents that, so fiberglass batt seems to be the choice.

Any suggestions as to what type of sheathing should be used? I would need approx. 9-10 4x8 panels cut to fit.

I have blown in on the attic floor, and want to seal off the walls and then insulate walls and ceiling. I do have a ridge vent.

Thanking you in advance, I am
