I am in need of information on how to clean the rust from a hand saw so that I may paint a picture on it. Can someone help me, please. After I clean it will I need to seal it? Thank you.

My mother-in-law/artist paints on blades......

I use a wire cup brush on a drill to clean-up the surface........the rough texture adds to the painting......you can leave a rusted backside for effect.......

for a hand saw be sure to remove the wooden handle (four screws) before using the power brush.......just clear coat the wood handle......prime/paint the metal blade (I like an oil finish).......

many painting techniques utilize mixed-media.....consider adding a clear coat after the final painting for more durability.....

"...measure once.....cut twice....throw that one away and cut a new one...."
