I recently bought a Craftsman 315.17371 router at a yard sale for a song. I checked it on the ***** parts list but what I really need is a copy of the manual. It is different from my other router and I want to use it safely. It has an unusual lock release & a collet that I am unfamiliar with. Any general info about this unit would be appreciated. The motor seems perfectly fine & the unit is clean. I would guess its a mid-seventies router but I might be way off. thanks, Bob.

Bought it new in 1976.......

So...you want to know about the collet.....

The lock is spring loaded to keep it away from the bit.....the pivot screw on mine tended to loosen and "warble-out"......(vibration and fit/finish)......It swings in to hold the shaft from turning....

the collet opens with a twist of the wrench....the included wrench right?.....Hmmmm...Actually that's one initial twist(breaks loose) and then a couple 1/4 turns again to remove the bit....

that design of collet likes to bite into the shaft/bit........I generally have to tap the bit to release after loosening.......

Copy of the manual......Ha...WhenIGetARoundTUIT
