why when i flush my toliet does it flush 3 times

No toilet now can be purchased higher then 1.6 gallon flush. All toilets are not alike. A simple water level in the tank adjustment may cure your problem. All toilet fixtures must be designed to properly cleanse the fixture. Also the flapper might be shutting prematurely. Lift off the lid and flush. Observe what happens. It wouldn't hurt to replace the flapper at any rate. Recommend *Corky* (name brand)

Depends on the valve inside your tank. Fluidmaster Valves employ a small metal clip that you squeeze and adjust the float higher or lower. If you have a ballcock (brass rod with a large ball float on the end, you can bend the rod to adjust the water level. Inside the tank should have a line that says, "water Level".
