When trimming out a passthough or door, what is the best way to make sure your trip pieces are the proper length (Taking into account approx 1/8" reveal), giving nice clean 45 degree corners?

Do you just start at one side and work your way arounf the opening? This would leave a lot of room for error- if you do not put the 1st piece up square (then the 45's don't match)

Probably a half dozen ways to do this.

One of my guys will use a pencil to mark the reveal and measure to that.

I measure the inside of the jamb and add a quarter inch to the measurement taken. Then when the piece is cut, on th efirst one, I mark center on both the piece and the jamb.

Regardless of what method you use, if you screw up one piece, you will amplify that error over the others

Excellence is its own reward!
