my furnace normally operates fine. I recently replaced the fan motor, but no issues there. I think i ran dry'ish for oil, and got $200 worth put into the tank. The furnace now fires up fine, flames are present, but the flames starts to briefly go out, then back, then out.. until the furnace trips and must be reset.

Does this sound like it needs re-priming, or something similar, and if so, how does a moderately handy non-pro do this? cheers, drew..

thanks for your help.

I fixed the issue, simply by resetting the furnace a number of times. The system itself is capable of drawing the oil by vacuum, so it only took a few resets to draw it through properly.

Just a note, and my apologies for sounding perhaps ungrateful, but while i obviously did not know the answer to the question i posted, there is no need to reply with such disdain. A simple statement of the dangers involved would have sufficed. But regardless, thank you.

but bear in mind that many folks who don't understand the subtle nuances of a furnace are otherwise intelligent and resourceful folks. If you want more people following your ever-present link to your software, bear this in mind. thanks again for the help. you may have the last word √ú
