I added another central vac outlet in the basement but cannot get it to work. I spliced into the main line going to the cannister in the garage, it has 6 wires, 3 solid color and 3 striped. The wire that I used to run to the new outlet has 2 wires, so I connected one of them to the 3 solid color wires and the other one to the 3 striped wires.I then connected them to the new outlet but nothing happens when I connect the hose and turn it on. Hope someone can give me an idea of what might be wrong.
The two wire colors are white and red. Does it matter which one of these two wires connect to the solid color and striped color wires. Also does it matter which connector at the outlet they are connected to.
