I recently primered and painted an interior of an old home. I used Dover white eggshell. I painted it two coats and still had to cut every room in a third time. I had this same problem with another house with Dover white but this house was new construction. Is it the color?

Hello! Paints that have a sheen to them will do this. In the painting biz we call it a halo. It is due to the fact that you are using two different methods of application, brush and roller. Around doors and windows you can roll right up to them if they are taped off properly (not too wet of a roller though). As for the ceiling, your just going to have to cut in more times than you roll. Always do your cutting in before you roll, especially with a sheened paint. Good Luck

Thanks for the information. I have been painting for 7 years now and have never had that happen? I always cut before I roll and I have never rolled directly next to a door or window even if its taped. Guess I'll have to try it... Homeowners won't like it though LOL!!! "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?"

Thanks again... I hate eggshell
