We will be having our home re-sided with vinyl siding. The house is currently a dark forest green with white trim. I would like to stay with this color but have been told the darker colors fade. The front of the house gets the most sun during the day (facing west), but only half of it is green since there is a large porch which is white. Has anyone had any experience with dark color vinyl fading or discoloring? Thanks.

Ask your contractor to show you a sample of Charter Oak siding from Alside. They have a dark green (they call it Ivy, I think) which looks great, and have the best warranty against fade I have seen. You can get more info at their site, www.alside.com.

Good Luck.

PS. I don't think it is available in all parts of the country.

Alside has a good warranty, yes on paper .. in reality, absolutely not. Check out the class action suit against them, I am still dealing with them.
