Painting hardwood floors
I had a laminate floor in my kitchen that I wanted to replace. I started pulling it up around the air vent and noticed a nice red/white check VCT flooring underneath. I thought a good cleaning and waxing would make it look good, although when I got half way through with demo the flooring stopped. I have now proceeded to rip out all the VCT and have cutback adhesive on hardwood floors showing. I was planning on scraping the adhesive off and painting floors with several coats of urethane on top of paint. Any suggestions on this? Am i going to need to sand before I paint. Will paint trap in the asbestos (if any)? I have gotten all the felt off the floor, although the floor is still farely black. Any assistance would be helpful.
