Any chance I'm going to be able to find a steel or fiberglass door to replace this one (with new wood frame) or am I going to have to find a wood door to replace it? Also, what sort of cost am I looking at for materials on this size of door?

Tall Front Door
This means if you are really interested in using a steel or fiberglass door, you will need to get a standard size door and close up the extra 9" or so above it.
Otherwise you will need to have a custom wood door made.
Have no idea what the cost would be without knowing what type of wood. An oak front door would cost several thousand dollars. Less for pine or fir.
A transom is a small 'window' above a door.
I won't spend several thousands of dollars on a wood door, so oak or mahogany are likely out of the question. Fir would be best choice since all woodwork and trim is fir. One quote I've gotten so far is for replacing the back door (standard size) with steel door and storm and replacing the front door with small window and standard steel door w/ storm...in the neighborhood of $3300! I didn't expect it to cost that much, am I expecting too much for to little money?
