I'm a mom of four young children and spend a good part of my day doing laundry (2-3 large loads). Are the new washing machines worth the $1000. price tag in terms of efficiency, cleaning and longevity?? Thanks

Hi,

**Are the new washing machines worth the $1000. price tag in terms of efficiency, cleaning and longevity?? **

efficiency - yes.

cleaning - yes.

longevity - so far no, the front laods so far havn't lasted longer than the top load style, they just much less hydro, soap and water during it's life.

Most ( all? ) front load washers are chuck full of electronics, an extended warranty is a good idea!!

JMO!!

We had the primo Maytag front loading washer and dryer for about 2 years and liked them.

When we moved, we bought the Kenmore versions (about $1200 for both) and like them even more than the Maytag. They're so quiet, you can put them in your baby's room. Seriously! And, you'd be amazed at how little water they use. As for reliability, we've only had ours for a year, but I think Consumer Reports rated them well.
