I need help, in my den I have two overhead spot lights. When I was removing one of the bulbs the bulb broke leaving the threaded end of the bulb in the socket. I have tried everything I can think of to remove the bulb but nothing seems to work. To make the problem more difficult the opening to work in the overhead light is small and I do not know the type of overhead light because it came with the house.

Hi altec, try a tennis ball (or something like it). Be sure power is off. Watch for broken glass, ouch!, and good luck!

Make sure the power is off even to the point of turning the main off if you are not certain it is off. Take a standard pliers and stick it into the socket and twist. Broken socket is removed easily with no damage to socket.
