hi everyone, i need some help here. i want to build a octagon flower bed 40 inches across it. i know that i have to cut at 30 degrees but cant figure out how long each piece have to be. can anyone help with this? thanks for anyhelp

I presume you want the 40" measured from one side to the opposite side....(rather than from point to point)

A HEXAGON.....six sides.....uses a 30º cut angle .....with sides about 23".....

An OCTAGON......eight sides ......uses a cut angle of 22 1/2º....with sides about 16.5" ....
