I'm looking to plug a lamp into a floor outlet that is covered by an area rug. I can't seem to find hardware that is low profile enough (I've looked at Home Depot, Lowes). I'm afraid the plug is so bulky it will wear through the rug. Help!

The cord will wear under the rug and won't be notices until it shorts and starts a fire.

I've seen them done under rugs in displays at stores, I hope the stores don't burn down! I'm sure you are a very smart man, Bill Hart - I'll take your advise

I have a 7' power cord with a low profile plug that was produced by Commercial Electric that should fill your need. (I am not offering mine, only advising that it is around.) It is called "Light Duty Indoor Low Profile Plug". The tag on it shows Commercial Electric, 2455 Paces Ferry Road N.W. Atlanta, GA 30339

I purchased this quite a while ago from either Home Depot or Lowes (can't remember which) but I have not been able to find another. Good luck.
