I am remodeling a two story frame house with brick veneer. The house is sitting on brick piers and the area under the house is completely enclosed between the piers by brick curtain walls. Since the crawl space and attic are easy to access I plan on routing wires through the crawl space. For the outlets and lighting I bought sheathed electrical cable (Southwire mfr.) 12-2 for indoor use (the stuff with the yellow jacketing). My question is, can this be used in the crawl space? Indoor 12-2 is for "normally dry locations" which my crawl space is, however, being in Savannah (lots of sand) there are a few spots under the house that get 2 inches of standing water for a few hours in heavy rain storms. Now I know I won't run the wire across the bottom of the crawl space but will a future buyer/inspector say "the previous owner used the wrong wire"?

Here's the NAtional Electrical Code definition of damp location
Location, Damp. Locations protected from weather and
not subject to saturation with water or other liquids but
subject to moderate degrees of moisture. Examples of such
locations include partially protected locations under canopies,
marquees, roofed open porches, and like locations,
and interior locations subject to moderate degrees of moisture,
such as some basements, some barns, and some coldstorage
warehouses.
Based on that definiton, I don't know any fellow inspectors in my area that would prohibit the installation of non-metallic sheathed cable in your crawlspace.
