I need some input..we're moving into an old farmhouse (1840's) and the walls are old plaster. They're all covered in very old wallpaper and I'm a bit reluctant to start stripping the paper. I did this years ago and really tore up the plaster. Any ideas about how to do this successfully? Or any ideas at all!!! I'm not sure if the paper is tight enough to prime and paint, but I suppose that's always an option. New walls aren't really in the budget at this point!

If the wallpaper has not been painted over it is not really to hard to remove wallpaper from plaster.
I would get some DIF remover from your local paint store and if it is not a vinyl coated paper the just apply two applications of the DIF and start scraping the paper off.
