Video: Purge Your Pantry of These Problem Items
Start fresh in the kitchen by pitching (or donating) old and unusable foods.
As the holidays draw ever nearer, many homeowners are preparing to entertain dozens of friends and family members over delicious dinners and tempting desserts. Those home-cooked treats call for scratch ingredients, which are easy on the wallet but give your pantry a real workout. If your cupboards are already crammed full of old spices, canned goods, and other shelf-stable eats, it may be time to initiate a purge. Take stock of what you need and remove everything you can’t use. It may sound like a drastic measure but consider this: If you haven’t eaten those 5-year old pickled asparagus spears or dusty soba noodles before now, you probably never will.
