water proof paint for basement
i have been looking at paint for my basement that will keep the water out.do these paints work good? if so what type is the best...
depends on what type of walls you have. Throroseal is good for cinderblock walls. if you have poured concrete walls, check the manufactures recommendations.
Their is really no paint that will keep water out,you can try a brand called drylock,or durablock, this can be found at home depots,******* ,most hardware stores, and leading retail paint stores.
If you get water in basement when it rains it will help some.I put 2 coats of this on my neighbors basement and she still gets water.
All I can say is it will help, this is about $20.00 a gallon. You need to put it on with a nice big brush do not roll, and yes the paint is gritty and chunky to answer your question early for when you open the can.

another good waterproofing product is made by Endur-o-seal check out their site www.concretesealers.com
Thoroseal is a concretious pargeting product that will keep out 100% of all liquid water in a basement.
It will do NOTHING to keep out gaseous water or water vapor, however.
That said, one usually need sto apply BOTH a product like ThoroSeal And a vapor barrier coating like DryLok to keep out both liquid and gaseous water from a basement.
