I need to know about painting a new basement floor that was already sealed.Do i need to sand the floor before i paint it to get the sealer off? It was a water base sealer that they put on after it had cured. Thanks Gary

Gary,

Without knowing the product, it's hard to tell. Whatever you do, don't use a water based paint. You are must better off using a high quality urethane with elongation properties in case the floor develops hairline cracks. Most good products are not available from the DIY places. Most DIY places want you coming back every few years to buy more product. Find a contractor that will warranty a urethane floor for 5-10 years. It should only cost you $1.50 a square foot. Email me with any questions. kingvolcano@aol.com Good Luck!
