I live in western Canada and have recently purchased a traditional English tudor house built in 1940 that still has the original single-pane leaded glass windows throughout. Some have diamond-shaped panes and others small squares. Although the windows are beautiful, many are in bad shape. Moreover, the temperature is pretty cold in winter and the windows are an absolute heat sink ($$$$$$). I am having little luck finding thermally efficient replacement windows that maintain the character of the house. Any suggestions? Alternatively, are there suggestions how the windows can be made a better thermal barrier (and still be attractive)?

Thank you!
