We are in the midst of new construction in Florida panhandle of a two story home with varied ceiling heights throughout, approximately 2700 square feet. First floor has only the varied ceiling heights at issue. Second floor has added issue of two different levels to the floor, because of a 3 step up portion to accommodate the high ceilinged area on first floor. It has become evident at this late date, that this creates an HVAC nightmare. The plan was for two 14 SEER units traditional units; one for first floor and one for second floor. However, suddenly it is reportedly impossible to provide good cooling under these circumstances. Can anyone explain in layman's terms what the solution might be.
