My home was built in 1988 and a one piece tub/shower/surround was installed with right side plumbing. It is the exact width of the bathroom and installed on an outside wall. We are going to have to replace siding and maybe some wood due to dry rot. Is it possible to take out a few studs and insert a new ONE PIECE unit and then put the studs back? I will hire a contractor but I would like to shop for the tub unit, which is nearly impossible to find. Everything is a tub and three piece surround and left side plumbing. If I wanted moldy seams I would just do a tub and tile. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
