Cracks in door panels: fill or ignore before repainting?
I have four previously-painted interior doors, original to my 1918 Craftsman. I need to repaint them. The inset panels (two in each door) have vertical cracks that follow the wood grain and appear to separate more when the humidity is low in the winter. Should I fill these with wood filler and sand before repainting, or just leave them and paint over? Concerned that as humidity fluctuates throughout the year, wood filler would pull away and the cracks would be more obvious and ruin the paint job.
